Broken Teeth HC
At Peace Amongst Chaos
Nuclear Blast Records
Release Date: 6 May 2016
Review by Derek J. Huckel

Broken Teeth HC emanate from the underside of Manchester, England, originating in 2007 and this is their major label debut. Their hardcore is of the metallic breed, they rose from a scene of largely metalcore bands, and with influences like Hatebreed and Terror, they are mostly just straight out angry.

The calm before the storm is opener, Take Me Away, it kicks off proceedings with a solitary guitar strumming away, then out of nowhere, like a cyclone hitting land, the wild winds pick up as the guitars build in volume and speed to begin this wild ride.  From then on, their anger is relentless, they have a sound that is a mix of Biohazard, Vision of Disorder, Hatebreed and Slayer. The Broken Teeth HC sound sits somewhere in the neighbourhood of these bands, but they aren’t breaking any boundaries or new ground with what they offer here.

Lose My Grip, has an extra vocal, sounding somewhat like Mike Muir from Suicidal Tendencies that intrigued me but it was short lived, fading out to the songs close. It gave the impression that a new road was about to be taken, but the album never seemed to quite find the right lane. Lose My Grip, was no doubt a standout on the album, as was Leach Regress To Snake, with its cool changes, breakdowns, as well as a different paced tune. Nothing Like You also rates a mention.  The rest I felt blended into one another a little bit too much.  Broken Teeth HC’s have a solid release with, At Peace Amongst Chaos. Many will love it, it’s good but it’s not great.
