Meanjin/Brisbane-based petalcore band Torizon have made a triumphant return with their searing new single Bloom – produced and mixed by Kalen Austin, and mastered by Mike Kalajian, Rogue Planet Studios (Bad Omens, Windwaker, Papa Roach).
Anchored by sharp metallic riffs, lush synthwork, and speedy rhythms, Bloom tackles the often-overlooked topic of infertility. Frontwoman Mish Sharma delivers a powerful vocal performance that shifts seamlessly between raw intensity and poignant vulnerability, while bassist Ben Gallaher adds depth through call-and-response harmonies. Together, they convey the emotional journey of characters Luna and Sam as they navigate the devastating experience of miscarriage.
Since its release, Bloom has earned a spot on Apple Music’s Breaking Hard Rock editorial playlist and has clocked over 10,000 Spotify streams in its first week. “We are so glad that ‘Bloom’ has resonated with so many people”, Mish explains. “This is just the first taste of what’s shaping up to be a huge year, continuing Luna and Sam’s story and shining a light on how isolating and defeating fertility struggles can be. It’s been really validating hearing from people who are going through it now and are feeling seen – that’s exactly what we set out to do.”
