MONOLIYTH: He Who Kills

Out August 22, 2025

Wormhole Death Records

Monoliyth’s latest slab of sonic carnage, He Who Kills, is an unrelenting dive into the blackest corners of the human psyche, and it’s fucking glorious. Set for digital release on August 22 via Wormhole Death Records, this Melbourne death metal institution delivers their tightest, heaviest, and most punishing work to date.

From the first second of Rise Of The Annihilated, the listener is met with blast beats faster than your last panic attack, face-melting dual guitar leads, and a grime-slick sludge undercurrent that coats every track in filthy, suffocating atmosphere.

Drummer Tim Wright’s performance is an absolute clinic in brutality, while the guitars of Mick and Zakk Barr slice through the murk with surgical precision.

Thematically, the album explores humanity’s most depraved instincts — peering through the eyes of serial killers with a level of detail that’s as fascinating as it is fucking disturbing. Vocalist Andrew Parkinson snarls and growls with visceral authority, anchoring the album’s themes with the menace they deserve.

The standout track? To Sever… Is To Savor. It’s track eight, and by the time you get there, it feels like a portal to hell has opened in your lounge room, and you’re begging it to swallow you whole. Equal parts groove, grind and emotional decay, it’s a perfect storm of Monoliyth’s strengths.

Every track is crafted with intention, and while the whole record is fast, full, and filthy, there’s a dark cohesion to it all, a descent that feels cinematic in its scope. It’s not just a collection of songs; it’s a brutal fucking journey.

He Who Kills isn’t just heavy, it’s a sledgehammer to the soul
